A couple of months ago I found a 1969 second edition (the first is 1960) of Children’s Britannica (Encyclopaedia Britannica) in a charity shop in Middlesborough, UK. It is volume 1, letter A. Almost instinctively I searched for Antarctica. Here is what I’ve found:

What do they mean ” a continent larger that Europe and Australia together”?! According the globe model Antartica is much smaller than this. But it also seems strange to me if they would give hint to the FE? Also in this same volume …
