-Russia’s halting efforts to conduct electromagnetic warfare show how important it is to quickly respond, and immediately shut down, such attacks, Pentagon experts said.
Dave Tremper, director of electronic warfare for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, pointed to SpaceX’s ability last month to swiftly stymie a Russian effort to jam its Starlink satellite broadband service. SpaceX founder Elon Musk steered thousands of Starlink terminals to over battlefield regions after an official sent him a tweet asking for help keeping besieged internet online.
Kremlin space chiefs have launched a secret military payload into orbit around the earth using Russia’s new Angara 1.2 rocket.
The launch took place at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the town of Mirny in the north-western Russian region of Arkhangelsk Oblast on April 29.
A statement said that a space "combat crew" had launched the unidentified payload for the Russian Ministry of Defence.
