An entry in the 1958 Encyclopedia Britannica admits there is a dome above the earth. Of course the admission was later deleted after the creation of NASA and the Antarctic Treaty. Essentially sealing off interior Antarctica from future exploration. Except for an occasional tour along the coastline the continent is a no go zone.
